1. Agreement to these terms
This website, noble-tt.com, is operated by Noble Accounting & Insurance Services ("Noble", "we", "us"), a practice in Trinidad and Tobago led by Alisha Clarence, Chartered Accountant and Insurance Advisor. By using the site you accept these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site.
2. General information only — not professional advice
This is the most important term on the page, and it applies to every article, guide, table, calculation and example published here.
What this site is, and what it is not
Everything on noble-tt.com is published as general information about accounting, taxation, insurance and business matters in Trinidad and Tobago, as understood at the date of publication. It is not accounting, tax, legal, insurance or financial advice, it is not a recommendation to buy or not to buy any product, and it must not be relied on as a substitute for professional consultation about your own circumstances.
Rates, thresholds, allowances, product features, forms and filing procedures change — often at budget, sometimes in between — and the right treatment always depends on facts we do not know about you. Before you act on anything you read here, confirm the current position with the Inland Revenue Division, the National Insurance Board, the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, your insurer or the relevant regulator, or speak with us or another qualified adviser about your specific situation.
2.1 No professional relationship is created
Reading this site, subscribing to it, or sending us an enquiry does not make you a client of Noble Accounting & Insurance and does not create an accountant–client, adviser–client or any other professional relationship. Such a relationship begins only when we have agreed an engagement with you in writing and any applicable identification and acceptance procedures are complete.
2.2 Figures and worked examples
Worked examples are illustrations chosen to explain a principle. They are simplified, they ignore facts that would matter in a real case, and the numbers in them are not a quotation, a projection or a promise of any outcome. Where an article states a rate or threshold, we state the date on which it was checked; we do not undertake to keep every published figure current.
3. Insurance appointment and how we are paid
You are entitled to know what commercial interest sits behind advice you are reading. Ours is this:
Adviser disclosure. Noble Accounting & Insurance is an appointed adviser for Guardian Group (Guardian Life of The Caribbean Limited and Guardian General Insurance Limited). Where an article recommends an insurance or annuity solution, that recommendation will be a Guardian Group product, and we are remunerated by Guardian Group when business is placed. Product features described here are drawn from Guardian Group's published material; full terms, benefits, exclusions and premiums are set out in the policy documents and your personal illustration.
In practice this means three things. First, our insurance articles are written by someone who places Guardian products and is paid commission for doing so, and you should read them with that in mind. Second, no product described on this site has been compared against the whole market on your behalf — an appointed adviser does not do that, and we do not claim to. Third, nothing described here is binding: cover exists only when a proposal has been accepted and a policy issued by the insurer, and the policy document and your personal illustration prevail over anything written on this website.
Our accounting and taxation work is charged as professional fees agreed with you in advance and carries no commission from any third party.
4. Advertising on this site
The knowledge hub is free to read and is supported in part by advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners. Advertisements are selected by Google, not by us. Their appearance on a page is not an endorsement, recommendation or verification by Noble of the advertiser, its products or its claims, and we have no responsibility for the content of an advertisement or of the site it links to. Advertising cookies are set only where you have consented; see the cookie section of our Privacy Policy and the Cookie settings link in the footer.
5. Intellectual property
The articles, guides, tables, layout, stylesheet and images on this site are the property of Noble Accounting & Insurance Services or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright. You may read, print and share pages for your own personal or internal business use, and you may quote short extracts provided you credit Noble Accounting & Insurance and link to the page. You may not republish an article in whole or in substantial part, sell it, use it to train a commercial model, or present it as your own work, without our written permission. Logos and trade names appearing on this site, including those of Guardian Group, belong to their respective owners.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use this site to break the law, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or to any server on which it is held, to introduce malicious code, to scrape it in a way that degrades service for other readers, or to send us material that is unlawful, abusive or misleading through the enquiry form.
7. Links to other websites
We link to the Inland Revenue Division, the National Insurance Board, insurers, regulators and other third parties because the primary source is usually the best answer. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or availability, and a link is not an endorsement.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the site available and accurate but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of anything harmful. We may change, suspend, withdraw or update any part of the site, including any article, at any time and without notice.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the law of Trinidad and Tobago, Noble Accounting & Insurance Services, its principal and its staff accept no liability for any loss or damage — including any tax liability, penalty, interest, lost profit, lost opportunity or uninsured loss — arising from your reliance on information published on this site, from any inaccuracy or omission in it, from its unavailability, or from any advertisement or third-party site reached from it. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. This clause does not affect the duties we owe you under a signed engagement letter, which are governed by that letter.
10. Privacy
How we handle personal information, and the advertising cookie disclosures Google requires, are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of the use of this site, are governed by the laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and the courts of Trinidad and Tobago have exclusive jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The version published on this page at the time you use the site is the version that applies, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
